What is PRP?
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a procedure where a small amount of blood is taken from the body, the plasma is separated through a special process, and then reinjected into the body. It is a regenerative treatment method that utilizes and strengthens the natural growth factors found in our blood cells.
The resulting plasma is very rich in cells called “platelets.” Platelets, whose main function in the body is to ensure blood clotting, play an important role in wound healing thanks to the growth factors they contain.
With PRP treatment, it is possible to heal certain diseases in the body and rejuvenate the skin using the person’s own blood. In PRP treatment, where the person’s own blood is used instead of medication, it prevents the slowing of cell renewal, especially due to environmental and genetic factors. PRP is used in the treatment of many diseases, from hair loss to skin rejuvenation, from pain treatment to orthopedic diseases.
What is the aim of PRP?
To give the skin elasticity and radiance
To prevent hair loss and strengthen hair
To prevent wrinkles and sagging
To restructure the skin in case of wounds, cracks, and skin damage
To ensure rapid skin regeneration after procedures such as laser treatment
Used in medical aesthetics on areas such as the face, hands and arms, inner thighs, neck, and décolleté
PRP provides a non-surgical solution for Achilles tendon rupture.
PRP method is also used for pain relief.
Many PRP applications are performed by physicians using application kits produced by biotechnology companies.
How is PRP Applied?
PRP treatment is a treatment method that should be applied by specialist doctors. First, blood taken from the patient is placed in a special tube under sterile conditions. Then, the blood is placed in a tube containing gel. The substances in the blood in the tube, which is placed in a centrifuge, are separated within 5-8 minutes. The plasma portion of the blood, rich in platelets and growth factors, is separated. The resulting mixture is applied to the relevant area using an injection method.
PRP is applied in an average of 3-4 sessions at intervals of 2-4 weeks, combined with mesotherapy depending on the individual’s needs. After the PRP treatment is completed, the procedure can be continued with injections 1-2 times a year.
