What methods are used in facial rejuvenation?
These methods can be divided into two categories: surgical and non-surgical.
Surgical methods in facial rejuvenation:
Upper and lower eyelid surgeries, temple and eyebrow lifts for the upper face
Mid-face lift and classic facelift for the cheeks and jawline
Neck lift, mid-face lift and classic facelift surgeries for the neck and jawline contour.
In many patients, these can be used in combination. It is possible to combine some surgical interventions, such as facelifts, with laser treatments aimed at rejuvenating the facial skin.
Non-surgical methods:
These methods are for individuals whose aging effects or the effects of sun and other chemicals on the face cannot be removed with daily use of skincare creams. They are mostly performed under local anesthesia. The choice of method depends on the patient’s needs.
Lasers
Ablative lasers, which completely peel away the superficial layer of the skin.
Non-ablative lasers, which do not peel the skin but create small holes to stimulate the contraction of the remaining collagen, thereby renewing the skin and tightening it. Dermabrasion
A skin peeling procedure using a rotating electric filing device.
Chemical peeling
A skin peeling procedure using various concentrations of acids such as glycolic acid, trichloroacetic acid (TCA), and phenol.
Dermaroller (micro-needling method)
It stimulates collagen production by creating micro-damage in the skin of the face and neck with a device that has numerous fine needles. It can be used in combination with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) or mesotherapy agents.
PRP (platelet-rich plasma)
A procedure in which 10-20 cc of blood is taken from a vein in the forearm, the clotting cells are separated, and the resulting content is injected under the facial skin with very small needles. It can be used in combination with dermaroller. Fillers
This is a procedure to replenish volume deficiency in areas such as the temples, cheeks, cheek-nose trough, tear trough, chin and jawline using hyaluronic acid-based fillers.
Ultratherapy
This is a procedure that tightens collagen under the skin using ultrasound energy. It is used for skin laxity in the neck and lower face. Although it does not provide a surgical result, it provides tightening.
Thermage
This is a method that provides skin tightening with radiofrequency. It is particularly effective on the neck and lower face. Since it is a painful procedure, it is preferred to be performed under sedation or general anesthesia. It provides tightening that can reach a depth of 20mm under the skin. It is a very effective method among non-surgical face and neck rejuvenation procedures.
